Today’s SWAGGER can be Tomorrow’s STAGGER!!!   11 comments

Today’s SWAGGER can be Tomorrow’s STAGGER

Just another deep reflection I had this morning as I rolled from one corner of my bed to the other – an indolent life you would say ‘lol’, but man must rest well.

Tobi, a consultant who works in one of the big investment companies in Abuja met Shalewa, a pretty dark lady and‎ a junior colleague who just joined the company. Two weeks after they met and became friends, Tobi could not help savoring the fantasies of what it would feel like to go on a date with the new lady, and ‎ how he would possibly lay her on his massive bed. Shalewa, a pretentiously pristine-minded and  gorgeous lady had fallen head over heel for Tobi, a high profile dude who has countless virile seductive skills and a strong romantic pull for any brand of woman he fancies has never for a moment relented in experimenting at will. Tobi, as record has it, has an indulgent liking for hot babes, which earned him his name, ‘the Maitama gigolo’.

A year ago, Fred had met Shalewa at a wedding, and ‎ they had since been friends. Fred had a genuine and‎ an unaltered love for her but all his efforts to show her how much he cared about her proved abortive. Shalewa heart was glued to Tobi as a Siamese twin to the other. Just as the axiom says, ‘The only permanent thing in life is change!’ As the years rolled by and seasons radically began to define and allot new status, Shalewa’s high profile dude, Tobi, lost everything and ‎ Fred became a Minister of State. But sadly, Shalewa was not part of this success story, as she has narrowed her heart for a man whose desire for her from the outset was lustful and vain.

I marvel at the manner some ladies give some young promising men sharp rebuff upon making advances at them. Some ladies will even apply the ‘Chop my Money’ principle and‎ tell off the nice guy at the end. While some would keep the guy waiting and‎ in the long run tell ‘Mr Nice Guy’ off. What an awkward world! I will be objective as much as possible as I drive home my point.

Some ladies have plausible reasons for rejecting guys: he smokes, he is arrogant, he is ugly, he doesn’t have a good job, his nose is big, he is short, he is too dark…etc. Whatever your reasons are, if you have to choose, then you better be choosing right. A lady I know once asked a friend of mine who told her how much he cared, ‘What makes you feel that your so-called dreams and‎ aspirations give you the audacity to ask me out?’ My jaw dropped! But don’t be surprised because such things happen.

If for the sake of today’s SWAGGER, you trade a beautiful destiny, then you are in for it. Oh! That may have sounded harsh but it is the truth! Some ladies live like KINGs when every guy approaches them saying to themselves ‘Yea! I am beautiful’. Unfortunately she goes for the one with SWAGGER forgetting tomorrow the
SWAGGERlicious guy who has no plans may STAGGER. A few judicious ones don’t, thank God for them!

Will Smith said ‘Never plan a future with anyone who has no future plans for themselves’.

Quite pathetic these days, a number of ladies plan with the wrong man and‎ after a while when the swags she’s blindly ran after fades away, she starts to look for ‘Mr Right’ at age 30. For my female readers, I am not implying that the guy who has swags now doesn’t have a bright future. Fortunately a few do. My point is just to sound a note of caution. Be careful in your judgements and dealings! Never always assume that all men have bad motives for approaching, if you keep going about with this mentality, you may lose 2 ‘Mr Right’ out of every 10 that approaches you. You may need to stop being suspicious of every man who comes your way, if, in the past, you had a terrible experience.

Okay, I should say enough about our ladies at this point, and turn to the gentleman who may be reading this piece, “Chivalry
aint dead”. If you have to be chivalrous please do it with a sincere heart.

In a discussion with a friend, He said, ‘The fact that you have known her for 5 months and‎ you have been nice with endless calls and ‎uncountable “bbm pings” and all that aren’t enough reason for her to say “YES”?’ A million guys have done the same thing so that they could get her laid. Ask yourself what makes you different from those other guys devising the same magic wands to win her back on their beds?

Finally i will like to mention here as i once tweeted “Your very essence defines the word ‘SWAGGER’. You may live like a king today, but what about tomorrow? Today will never be Tomorrow. Please, think about this!

Is it incompatibility?   8 comments

When a partner acts or thinks differently from us, sometimes we begin to question compatibility. We think, “This person is not really like me, so, I’m not sure if he/she is right for me.”

Compatibility is certainly a necessary component to evaluate in relationships, but are differences always an issue of incompatibility?

Perhaps your mate is not incompatible with you, but is complementary to you. The right person for you will have things in common with you, but will also be different from you in some respects. In a complementary relationship, a couple’s differences are there for greater purpose. Your mate’s divine differences enhance who you are by bringing skills and perspectives to the relationship that would otherwise be lacking.

Your mate is your counterpart. You both bring mutually beneficial aspects to the relationship. Pause and think about how your mate complements you. How do they enhance you? What unique attributes do they add to your relationship? Once you identify how your mate helps to perfect your relationship, perhaps you can begin appreciating your differences rather than despising them?

Differences do not necessarily mean incompatibility.

Springboard to Success   Leave a comment

Springboard to Success

A gymnast in an Olympic will most likely have a fatal fall if he jumps from a wrong position from his springboard.

I liken the word “Springboard” here to your foundation. Many of us grew from an impeccable and‎ well laid foundation while some grew from faulty foundation.

You’d agree with me that as we grow certain factors, socio, environmental, beliefs etc influence our foundation either positively or negatively thereby determining the height of success you will attain.

“If the foundation be destroyed what can the people do….”

••|Never pitch your TENT of Dreams with people who would collapse your foundation|••

You have the will power to stand well on your springboard and‎ also determine how far you want to go.

i hope you understand, please share someone needs to stand up to succeed

ENI ITAN   Leave a comment

Enitan woke up suddenly in the middle of the night perspiring heavily, the white bed spread, was heavily patched and wet from the excessive sweat coming out of his body. The water coming out of his body was not normal as he had slept in his boxer shorts and singlet, and the OX electrical fan and the split AC in his room were working at maximum capacity.

It was not his fault that he couldn’t sleep; these cycles of insomnia had become a regular feature of his life in the last three weeks or so, particularly since the gale of job cuts and retrenchment started at Dodonkodi Bank where he works. Within the last three weeks, Enitan has watched helplessly as the gale of retrenchment swept away his manager, and even close confidants at work. At the last count over twenty five members of staff had been laid off at the branch where he worked in what the management said was the first batch of the retrenchment exercise.

Enitan got up from the bed dripping with sweat as if he had just taken a shower. He pulled off his singlet and went into the living room where he proceeded to switch on the light. What he saw further depressed him, his living room was tastefully furnished with a 32 inch plasma TV firmly glued to the wall complemented by the large home theater multipurpose audio- visual musical set with giant speakers. The dining section of the living room had imported glass dining chairs and tables. The whole living room was rugged in Arabian carpets while 2 split air conditioning systems adequately ventilated the living room. Enitan shivered and wondered how he was going to be able to maintain his present type of lifestyle supposing the inevitable happens. He sat down on one of the sofas and he put on the TV. He checked the wall clock and he discovered it was just past midnight. He attempted to change the channels on the TV in an effort to steady his nerves by watching TV, he soon discovered he wasn’t making any headway he threw away the remote control and sank his whole frame into the sofa with his face buried in his two palms.

His mind raced fast to the past. He remembered how he had struggled through school having lost his parents when he was still a child, he had been raised by a distant aunt who also struggled through life that most of the time she had found it almost impossible to provide him with essentials talk less of anything extra while he was growing up. He had gone through the University by his own sheer will and determination. He had suffered indignities and deprivations but he persisted. And his efforts were crowned when he graduated and secured a job immediately with Dodonkodi Bank as an Executive Trainee. This period marked a turning point in his life, as his emoluments which were in the realm of a six digit figure per annum completely transformed him.

It had been two years now that he has been in the employ of Dodonkodi Bank, and Enitan had transformed into a swashbuckling, haughty and rich twenty six year old young man. He had completely embraced the good life, he drives one of the best automobiles in town, he had rented a 2 bedroom apartment in the upscale section of town, he travelled first class, he drank exotic wines, he ate outlandish cuisines and courted the most beautiful girls in town, and he seemingly enjoyed the good life while it lasted. But before one could whisper “economic recession” the good life he enjoyed became threatened with the “gale” and “tsunamis” of job cuts in his bank. Enitan’s case had been made worse by the fact that he had contacted a soothsayer at the onset of the retrenchments and he had been told in no uncertain terms that he would surely be sacked before the end of the retrenchment exercises in his bank

Where do I start from, he muttered out from his recumbent position on the sofa aaah! Igboro ti daru ! He exclaimed nervously as he remembered that although so much money and opportunities had passed through his hands in the last two years he had not achieved any transcendental transformation in his personal life talk less of in the lives of people who were close to him. Suddenly his old aunt’s constant chorus of “ranti omo eniti iwon se” which were admonitions to him to remember his humble roots but which he unfortunately never took heed off began to make sense to him. He jerked as the alarm clock from his bedroom began to make its presence felt subtly across the whole apartment. He suddenly realized he has not slept at all and he needs to start getting ready for work as he looked at the wall clock in the living room and discovered it was 6am. He shrugged and shivered as he remembered that the last batch of retrenchment exercise in his office was slated for today. As he made straight for the bathroom, he brushed his teeth and stepped into the shower. With cold water splattering all over his body while he stood under the shower motionless and lost in thought.
Pon! Pon!! Pon!!! His neighbor’s car horn jolted him out of his reverie as he realized that his neighbor was already set for work and was waiting for him to come and pull his car that was parked at the rear of his neighbor’s car out of the way. He dashed out of the bathroom naked with water dripping all over his body straight into his bedroom where he quickly got dressed up for work with his neighbor still pressing his car horn as if he was rehearsing for a musical concert. He got out of his apartment apologizing profusely to his neighbor who ignored him with so much disdain written on his face.

On getting to work, he went straight to his desk. Surprisingly he discovered he could not gain access to the computer on his desk. He shivered and a creeping cold sensation knocked his spine “perhaps the inevitable has finally happened” he muttered incoherently as he began to sweat. And almost immediately he was sent for by the new manager. He almost peed in his trousers when he heard that his attention was sought for by the manager. He walked to the manager’s office dazed and as he moved his legs they felt so heavy like logs of wood. In what seemed like eternity, he finally arrived at the manager’s office. The manager didn’t even look at him as he was busy working with his computer but proceeded to hand a brown envelope to him. By now Enitan’s eye balls were almost popping out of their sockets as he felt everything in the manager’s office swirling round, he burst into hysteria as he started crying, shouting and pleading…

No sir! “You can’t do this to me I beg you in the name of everything you cherish”

“Don’t do this to me”

“ I have nobody to turn to!” Please sir…!

As he was saying these he was rolling on the floor and his hands held the manager’s feet. Embarrassed and astonished, his boss shouted

“Do what to you?”

Ah! Ah!! “Sir I beg you don’t sack me”

“Sack?” The manager squealed more astonished

“But you have just been promoted and this is your letter”, he waived the letter which Enitan had refused to collect aloft.

“P-r-o-m-o-t-i-o-n?” Enitan asked like a drunk

“Yes”! The manager reaffirmed

On hearing this Enitan passed out!

No man sees your DREAM the way you tend to see it…..

No man will help you write out your VISION

No man will help you RELISH challenges

The POTENCY of your DREAM strongly lies on how you are willing to VISUALIZE and‎ ACT in spite of difficulties.~ LD

It lies in YOU, if you can VISUALIze, PROFESS and‎ ACT it, then VICTORY becomes imminent.

The Biography of Great Men   Leave a comment

By Temitayo Ilori

IF the sky is still there tomorrow
It’s because I will be a great man

If the sun will still rise and set tomorrow
It’s just because I will be great

The breeze, if it will still blow
It’s because my place in life is greatness

When people smile at me
It’s because I will be great tomorrow

When they frown at me
It’s because I will be great

When they love me
It’s not for anything
But because I will be great tomorrow

If they hate me
It’s because I will be great tomorrow

If they deny me
It because I am a great man

When they accept me
It’s because I am going to be great

When they offer to help me
It’s because they know I will be great tomorrow

When they don’t help me
It’s because they are jealous of my greatness
That comes tomorrow

I have been a winner
Since I fought zillions of sperms
In the ocean of Semen
I can’t give it all up now
I am an emblem of greatness

When they discipline me
It’s because they want me to be great
Because a crude and undisciplined mind
Does not worth the crown

When they refuse to discipline me
It’s because my future is not clear to them
Because if it was clear to them
They would have disciplined me in love today

If I fail today
It’s because I will have a story to tell
When I become great tomorrow

If I fall
I will surely stand up
To run the race of greatness

As long as the sun sets in the west in the evening
That is a reassuring dream and hope
For my will-never-be-hindered greatness

If I am born poor
Through that same lineage
The great men have come in the time past
It’s a significance of my own greatness too

If a problem threatens my world
And makes my soul quiver
It’s because I will be famous
If I ever have the undeterred courage
And wisdom to solve it

If I face the sea
And there is no way through it or around it
I will make a ship to sail on it

If I am born without a silver spoon in my mouth today
Or that I am walking the street with tatters today
The world will call me a tramp I know
But tomorrow will judge
When they will buy my autobiography with millions
Because in the tramp of today is sown a great man
That will germinate tomorrow

I am a great man
Let the world hear that
I am a great man

I will never be intimidated by life
But I will let my daring courage
Be a motivation and inspiration
To my generation and those still coming

I will pitch my head against the World
I dare to escape its trap that turns a born WINNER
To a living NOBODY
I dare to be different
I dare to join the institution of the few called “Greatness”

If I am letdown by many and helped by few
It’s because my achievements as a great man
Will be admired by many tomorrow
The many who let me down today

The world does not know who I am
Now let me declare who I am
I am the world’s greatest

This is has been the biography of great men
And it is still our biography
I mean those who will be great tomorrow.
