The Biography of Great Men   Leave a comment

I JUST WROTE YOUR BIOGRAPHY

By Temitayo Ilori

THE BIOGRAPHY OF GREAT MEN

IF the sky is still there tomorrow
It’s because I will be a great man

If the sun will still rise and set tomorrow
It’s just because I will be great

The breeze, if it will still blow
It’s because my place in life is greatness

When people smile at me
It’s because I will be great tomorrow

When they frown at me
It’s because I will be great

When they love me
It’s not for anything
But because I will be great tomorrow

If they hate me
It’s because I will be great tomorrow

If they deny me
It because I am a great man

When they accept me
It’s because I am going to be great

When they offer to help me
It’s because they know I will be great tomorrow

When they don’t help me
It’s because they are jealous of my greatness
That comes tomorrow

I have been a winner
Since I fought zillions of sperms
In the ocean of Semen
I can’t give it all up now
I am an emblem of greatness

When they discipline me
It’s because they want me to be great
Because a crude and undisciplined mind
Does not worth the crown

When they refuse to discipline me
It’s because my future is not clear to them
Because if it was clear to them
They would have disciplined me in love today

If I fail today
It’s because I will have a story to tell
When I become great tomorrow

If I fall
I will surely stand up
To run the race of greatness

As long as the sun sets in the west in the evening
That is a reassuring dream and hope
For my will-never-be-hindered greatness

If I am born poor
Through that same lineage
The great men have come in the time past
It’s a significance of my own greatness too

If a problem threatens my world
And makes my soul quiver
It’s because I will be famous
If I ever have the undeterred courage
And wisdom to solve it

If I face the sea
And there is no way through it or around it
I will make a ship to sail on it

If I am born without a silver spoon in my mouth today
Or that I am walking the street with tatters today
The world will call me a tramp I know
But tomorrow will judge
When they will buy my autobiography with millions
Because in the tramp of today is sown a great man
That will germinate tomorrow

I am a great man
Let the world hear that
I am a great man

I will never be intimidated by life
But I will let my daring courage
Be a motivation and inspiration
To my generation and those still coming

I will pitch my head against the World
I dare to escape its trap that turns a born WINNER
To a living NOBODY
I dare to be different
I dare to join the institution of the few called “Greatness”

If I am letdown by many and helped by few
It’s because my achievements as a great man
Will be admired by many tomorrow
The many who let me down today

The world does not know who I am
Now let me declare who I am
I am the world’s greatest

This is has been the biography of great men
And it is still our biography
I mean those who will be great tomorrow.

Kolaesque | The Strong Man and the Submissive Woman   8 comments

Kolaesque…in my style | Worth Reading

Making the world a better and‎ happier place by simply encouraging MEN to be Gentlemen and‎ Wo-MEN to be ladies

Yipee! it’s saturday again and‎ i have just put my fingers to typing (not pen to paper). Saturday! a day notable for weddings across our different suburbs. But i’ll surely come around with my imaginations please enjoy the tips below

For the MEN~ “Never take your position by Force, if you do then you have moved out of legal authority”. Is this somewhat confusing? i’d explain i once saw in the course of the week, a picture of woman who was severely beaten by a man. Rather disheartening, i must admit. A gentleMAN who has the spirit of God in him shouldn’t follow the steps of a feeble MAN. A feeble MAN would hit his woman all because he has a strong misconception of his position as a man.

There is a huge difference between an elected and‎ a dictator. The former has authority and‎ the latter merely has power. To have authority means to have the right to govern. Therefore if a MAN decides to start hitting his wife even when it is apparent to him she’s no punching bag, then such man becomes a FEEBLE man who is merely wielding power over others and‎ no longer have legitimate authority.

A Gentle and‎ Strong MAN is a man who understands his God given strength is not to beat his woman but to maximize all his potential for the purpose for which he was created.

For the Wo-MEN~ In the course of the week, i was in a session with a friend and‎ she said “push him to the limits while still courting with him” i didn’t quite agree with her when she said that because there is a limit to which a lady is expected to push a man you are not married to.

Well, LADIES i have this to say, if you must follow a man or listen to him, or even court with him, be sure he has “christ-like” traits. Perfect love drives out fear. If you notice your man has to make you afraid of him in order to force you to do something he wants done, then he doesn’t know what love is. Woman, you also need to submit to your man. As long as a man has the christ-like traits, you should be in total submission to him.

i hope you will make conscious effort to think about this before you pick one of those saturdays to get married *winks*

Just like my late mentor, Pastor Bimbo Odukoya once said, “Never rush into Marriage, so you won’t have to rush out of it”

Enjoy your saturday!!!

Making the world a better and‎ happier place by simply encouraging MEN to be Gentlemen and‎ Wo-MEN to be ladies

In our daily life challenges that life gives us we tend to sometimes miss out on what is important.

Life is not so short but that there is always time enough for courtesy~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Let’s not neglect the use of simple words like HELLO, PLEASE, or THANK YOU, AM SORRY…e.t.c Don’t hesitate in congratulating someone on something wonderful that has happened to them, Give a compliment, or just do something nice for no reason.

For the Wo-MEN | When that MAN says HELLO, Good morning.. don’t just grudgingly reply or you completely ignore him. i’ll advise you listen to what he has to say, if he pressed further. Never be too quick to assume he has a wrong motive for approaching.

For the MEN | Be pristine in all your intentions! She likes it when you are real.

As you go through today, this week, month, year, recognize the people who pack your parachutes. 😉

Have an Excellent day!

For the MEN~ Do you know it is far much cheaper showing her she is appreciated than attempting to impress her with your jacob chain, buggati car, or 21 bedroom mansion in lekki:O

For the Wo-MEN~ i learnt this secret from the greatest woman in my life, my mother. Never dress or make yourself up in front of your man. You tend to lose an intrinsic value. Just appear to him beautiful and‎ leave him to wonder. By that the “you are beautiful” phrase he says to you never fades;)

It is friday, have fun wisely!

I Need You   Leave a comment

I need you in my times of strength and‎ in my weakness

I need you when you hurt as much as when i hurt.

There is no longer the choice as to what we will share.

We will either share all of life or be fractured persons.

We were not driven by instincts or emptiness;

We made a choice to love.

But i think something supernatural happens at the point of commitment

A husband comes into existence; a wife is born.

He is a whole man before and‎ after, but at a point in time he becomes a man who is also a husband

That is — a man who needs a wife

She is a whole woman before and‎ after.

But from now on she needs him

She is herself but now also part of a new entity.

Could it be He really does something special at ” i do”?

Your despair is mine even if you don’t tell me about it.

But when you do tell, the sharing is easier for me;

And‎ you also can then share from my strength in that weakness

Persistence, a great expedient for successful living!   6 comments

Many years ago, while at the college, I had to take a course, FIS 309. FISHING IN THE STORM 309 as we jokingly tagged the course. For the first time in my four years at the college, I had a D. I got back to my room that fateful day, and‎ i whimpered for a long time. It dawned on me that my wailing wouldn’t suffice for what had happened. Fortunately, in the last semester in school, with strong determination and‎ with God’s grace i emerged…..I also remember during my National Youth Service year, I had this great idea to sell a particular drink in the north, my first sales was nothing impressing. I used to record huge debt but I kept on persistently, not deterred. A lot of obstacles, discouragement from people
who didn’t believe i could make it…

Success is going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm~ Winston Churchill

Many great people with great ideas today have once had to fail. Not once! Not twice but as many as 99 times. You know their secret! They were persistent, they never gave up trying and they were not quitters!!! They failed 99 times but stood up stronger 99*99 times. The questions are; what is your view about failure and what is your response to failure?
“Failure is only an opportunity to begin again more intelligently”.~ Henry Ford

~I have observed that the difference between an achieving person and a mediocre is their perception and response to failure. ~

~An achieving person sees failure as a LESSON that has to be learnt to move forward to the next level. A mediocre sees failure as a stumbling block.~

So how would you have responded to failing FIS 309 in my case?

How would you have felt after losing that huge contract you have seriously pursued?

How would you have reacted to that great idea you had, but didn’t work out as planned?

What would you do if the woman you have pursued for 2years eventually says a big NO!

Would you have just said what do I stand to lose? Would you have allowed that great idea to fade away? What would you do when you fail?

When failure comes you might get in a fuss which is not a plus. Failure will always remain a minus if you fail to launch back after you fail. Your determination force is what calms the storm. The calmness after the storm in no way reflects any struggle for with the calmness come victory, happiness and success. Storms are hard to fight but if you win, you find light.

Remain persistent and‎ be successful

Have an Excellent day!

You can be a Remarkable Employee!   Leave a comment

As i walked up the staircase on a monday morning in one of the companies i had worked, Charles, a fair skinned young man beamed with smile the moment he saw me and‎ said “good morning my mentor

“Good morning victor”, how was your night? i replied? Very beautiful He said.

As i entered the office, i greeted everyone, “Prof! Prof!! Good morning. They chorused! i smiled as i was left completely humble. My boss then began with this long sermon on how proud she was to have me work with the company but sadly i had to move on….. Let’s quit story, please read on the qualities of a great employee.

Great employees are reliable, dependable, proactive, diligent, great leaders and great followers… they possess a wide range of easily-defined—but hard to find—qualities.

A few hit the next level. Some employees are remarkable, possessing qualities that may not appear on performance appraisals but nonetheless make a major impact on performance.

Here are eight qualities of remarkable employees: (An Excerpt from Jeff Haden)

1. They ignore job descriptions. The smaller the company, the more important it is that employees can think on their feet, adapt quickly to shifting priorities, and do whatever it takes, regardless of role or position, to get things done.

When a key customer’s project is in jeopardy, remarkable employees know without being told there’s a problem and jump in without being asked—even if it’s not their job.

2. They’re eccentric… The best employees are often a little different: quirky, sometimes irreverent, even delighted to be unusual. They seem slightly odd, but in a really good way. Unusual personalities shake things up, make work more fun, and transform a plain-vanilla group into a team with flair and flavor.

People who aren’t afraid to be different naturally stretch boundaries and challenge the status quo, and they often come up with the best ideas.

3. But they know when to dial it back. An unusual personality is a lot of fun… until it isn’t. When a major challenge pops up or a situation gets stressful, the best employees stop expressing their individuality and fit seamlessly into the team.

Remarkable employees know when to play and when to be serious; when to be irreverent and when to conform; and when to challenge and when to back off. It’s a tough balance to strike, but a rare few can walk that fine line with ease.

4. They publicly praise… Praise from a boss feels good. Praise from a peer feels awesome, especially when you look up to that person.

Remarkable employees recognize the contributions of others, especially in group settings where the impact of their words is even greater.

5. And they privately complain. We all want employees to bring issues forward, but some problems are better handled in private. Great employees often get more latitude to bring up controversial subjects in a group setting because their performance allows greater freedom.

Remarkable employees come to you before or after a meeting to discuss a sensitive issue, knowing that bringing it up in a group setting could set off a firestorm.

6. They speak when others won’t. Some employees are hesitant to speak up in meetings. Some are even hesitant to speak up privately.

An employee once asked me a question about potential layoffs. After the meeting I said to him, “Why did you ask about that? You already know what’s going on.” He said, “I do, but a lot of other people don’t, and they’re afraid to ask. I thought it would help if they heard the answer from you.”

Remarkable employees have an innate feel for the issues and concerns of those around them, and step up to ask questions or raise important issues when others hesitate.

7. They like to prove others wrong. Self-motivation often springs from a desire to show that doubters are wrong. The kid without a college degree or the woman who was told she didn’t have leadership potential often possess a burning desire to prove other people wrong.

Education, intelligence, talent, and skill are important, but drive is critical. Remarkable employees are driven by something deeper and more personal than just the desire to do a good job.

8. They’re always fiddling. Some people are rarely satisfied (I mean that in a good way) and are constantly tinkering with something: Reworking a timeline, adjusting a process, tweaking a workflow.

Great employees follow processes. Remarkable employees find ways to make those processes even better, not only because they are expected to… but because they just can’t help it

Don’t just dare to be different..Be Uniquely different.

Have an Excellent day

Love you

My First Love   1 comment

I remembered running into her arms when i was being threatened by a group of boys in school

She received me in her arms, embraced me and ‎ patted me on the head.

i remembered when i was 5years old during one of her trips outside the country, she got me what we all know as “to-match” designer jacket and‎ shoes, yeah i saw a picture and‎ how i beamed with smile in it.

Pleasant memories i won’t forget in a jiffy. Across the world today, we celebrate mothers, but i celebrate mine every day. i keep wondering why we don’t attach much importance to our fathers. Well the father is equally important because if it wasn’t for his X or Y chromosomes, i wouldn’t be a man today thanks to his Y-chromosomes. So let’s celebrate them as well.

My mother, the mother of kings and‎ queens, a woman who carried and‎ bore pains for me for 9months

She made sure i was well fed, i vomited on her even when i was over fed but with tender touch she wipes it off

As a baby when i release the odious bomb, she looks at me and‎ smile and‎ i smile back even though i didn’t know what i did. Not anymore now! She won’t hesitate to remind me of “Oroki herbal mixture”

She stayed awake and‎ watched me in my cot all night she probably was scared of a cot death.

She became my early source of inspiration, her words gave me direction in the most bewildered state.

She raised me to be an understanding and‎ caring man.

She would stay awake all night, on her knees and‎ pray for me. She would call me up every morning just to pray with me.

You stayed with me through thick and‎ thin, and‎ you taught me how to remain strong in the face of adversity

In many words and‎ sentences, i can’t describe the joy in me while i wrote this piece. You are a woman of inestimable worth and‎ i appreciate you my mother. Thank you so much for being there.

i dedicate this blog post to my mother, and‎ to all mothers across the world, Am i forgetting something…no i won’t…yes and‎ to all ladies i have met at some point in life who will become a mother.

i should stop here for now as i am literally shedding tears of joy. Love you all.

HappƔ‎‎ Mother’s day!!!

A Lesson from James Dyson   Leave a comment

A lesson from James Dyson

26 December, 2011

i was aboard a flight with my dad from Lagos to Abuja , I settled finally in my seat, to catch some real sleep. I had eaten, read the  newspapers, but not quite ready to listen to any music. Flipping through the channels to see what to watch later, four  documentaries about entrepreneurship and fatal mistakes made caught my eyes. One was about Coca Cola changing their recipe, the other was about  a detergent manufacturer in the U.K adding too much chemical to bleach  out dirt, a third was about Cadbury enticing school kids to buy more  chocolate (in order to earn exercise equipment), and Dyson. Even though I watched all of them, my message today is about James Dyson.

James Dyson (born 2 May 1947) is a British industrial designer and  founder of the Dyson company,  and an inventor who has developed  products that have achieved sales of over $6 billion worldwide. Among his earlier inventions are flat bottomed boats called Sea Trucks  and ball barrows (wheelbarrows with a giant ball instead of wheels). More  recently public restroom users have enjoyed Dyson’s Air Blade hand  dryer. I find the story behind Dyson’s greatest commercial success, the  Dual Cyclone bagless vacuum cleaner, to be the most interesting. James used the knowledge gained designing an industrial cyclone tower in  1978 to build a vacuum cleaner that would require no bag at all. The  incredible part of the story is that this took Dyson 5 years and 5,127  (five thousand one hundred and twenty seven) prototypes to get it right. James could have given up at 5,126 prototypes or could have allowed  discouragement to divert his attention, but he kept going. If you had to advise James Dyson early at his 1000th or 3,000th  prototype, what would you have told him? Would you have advised him to  continue, or give up?At 5,127 prototypes the Dyson Dual Cyclone became the fastest-selling  vacuum cleaner ever made in the UK, outselling products from companies  that had rejected his idea.

The lesson, unless you have reached your destination of financial  independence, you must keep going, keep re-inventing yourself until you  succeed.

The Dyson in you is waiting.

Have a wonderful day.
